Is Green Arrow the Mac??

"If there is anyone who can show just cause why these two should not be wed..." I dunno, because the Best Man probably slept with the bride?
Funny thing is, at first glance, I didn't even see the bride. My first thought was that Green Lantern and Green Arrow were about to get married. Kinda like that Batman Family cover where Robin and Batgirl are getting married. Except, you know, more slashfic-like.

Splat?

I have to assume that the man falling from the building is going to die. He's falling to earth at 32 feet per second squared. Meanwhile, our heroes are arguing about who should save him.
I don't know if Green Lantern's haste is warranted. I only hope that some day we'll find it-The Gravity Connection-the lovers, the dreamers, and Hal.

Green Arrow is the Mac! #8

Even as his body succumbs to the twin threats of asphyxia and hypothermia, Ollie stops to check out Black Canary's rack.

Um... Guys?

"But if Green Lantern uses his power, the mountain's curse will destroy them all !"

Kinda looks like GL is already using his power. Guess this was the one day Ollie forgot to pack the "Three Pairs of Skis Arrow".
By the way, this lovely cover was rendered by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez- praised be his name!

ATTENTION Green Arrow Fans! (Arrow Heads?)
While checking some of my traffic sources for this blog, I found a great blog connected to a podcast called "Behind the Panels".  They are currently running a great series on the history of the Emerald Archer. Stop by and check them out here

Finally! Some Love From Fisher Price!

I stumbled across this little beauty at Target (LOL- Where else would you find a Green Arrow, but in a Target?) while shopping with my kids. Sadly, I couldn't take him home, but he's on my list! It's so nice to see Green Arrow represented in a current, children's toy line. They also now offer a Cyborg/Red Tornado two pack! What's next? Dr. Fate?  Firestorm? Composite Superman? Who knows?

More Fun Monday!!

More Fun Comics #82- August, 1942

For the fist time, Green Arrow and Speedy are not sharing the cover with the stock art head of The Spectre, nor is there any mention of Aquaman or Johnny Quick. I'd say our heroes have arrived. Or I would if it wouldn't take another 40 years for GA to get his own title!

And so begins Speedy's willingness to experiment with recreational pharmaceuticals.

"Time to get down to Earth, you in the tin pants!"- Yeah, well at least he's wearing pants, Ollie!

The (obvious) idea of teaming the Battling Bowmen up with Robin Hood and his Merry Men is such a natural it was done again in the Silver Age and once more in the early 90's!

Happy Valentine's Day from The ArrowCave!

Happy V.D. from G.A. !

Okay, so G.A. has to share a Valentine with That Other Guy. But hey, at least he's on some merchandise somewhere.

This was the only image used on any of the valentines as well as the tiny temporary tattoo that came with them. Seems the card manufacturers were enamored of this piece of stock art:

It is pretty sharp.

Green Arrow is the MAC #7

Mackin' on Supes' Main Squeeze!

I thought, with this being Valentine's day week and all, that we'd go with posts that show the Emerald Archer's more... romantic side.

While making out with the girlfriend of a guy who can burn you to a cinder with a dirty look may be dangerous, it's not all that hard. After all, as Lana Lang knows all too well, Lois will spread 'em for anything in tights.

Now, now, calm down! Actually Lois is kissing Green Arrow (and Batman and Aquaman) for a very good cause which is fully laid out in Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane #29.

I've already used the wonderful cover to this for an earlier post and this issue is a particular favorite of mine. I know it's a big hit with my wife as well. That's no surprise though. Not only is she a huge Lois Lane fan, I'm pretty sure the inside of her imagination looks like this 90% of the time:

The Ballad of the Yellow Glove- Green Arrow Style!

For those of you who follow my friend Rob Kelly's awesome tribute blog The Aquaman Shrine, you may recall a semi-recurring feature "The Ballad of the Yellow Glove" which recants numerous instances where Aquaman's gloves or, more commonly just one glove are colored yellow- long after they had been changed definitively to green.

Today, my friends, I submit to you that this yellow glove is an insidious interloper who travels trhoughout the pages of various comics series, making our heroes look foolish. Behold!:

Back to Aquaman where you belong!

More Fun Monday!

More Fun Comics #81, July, 1942.

"The Adventure of the Bankrupt Heroes"

Although the Spectre is the only other star to get his face on the cover, Aquaman is prominently mentioned on the banner, suggesting a resurgence in his popularity.

Admittedly, I only get a half hour for lunch, but it's hard for me to drive to Taco Bell and back in that time. These guys solve a crime and take down a mob of assassins in less than an hour! Come to think of it, they didn't get to eat, though.

Notice that Green Arrow is finally blonde and Speedy is finally a redhead. Also, Speedy's hat has gone back to being yellow except for on page two, where it's red.

Geek Arrow

You know you're a real superhero when you're on Sheldon's shirt. Thanks to Rob Kelly of The Aquaman Shrine for spotting this for me!

Trick Arrow Tuesday! #10 - "Specialty" Arrows

Frankly, I'm not sure I want to live in a world where someone felt that Green Arrow's Trick Arrows would be taken more seriously by someone who doesn't go for that sort of thing if only they were referred to as "Specialty" arrows. I suppose the sort of person who goes for calling them Specialty Arrows rather than Trick Arrows is the sort of person who felt they needed a "scientific" explanation of how these wonderfully entertaining yet preposterous goodies worked in the first place.

MEH!
